sometimes I miss smelling like an ashtray

In the interests of full disclosure, I don't smoke anymore (much) nor drink (much) as it crosses badly with the medications. I've simply replaced those addictions with others that aren't as cuddly.

musing

the bottle says,
La Cerveza Mas Fina
actually, I couldn’t
agree more.

my preference is with lime
and I am not alone on this.
or if I am then why does
the store stock them together?
it’s like cigarettes.
20 class A cigarettes…
‘A’ class cigarettes,
I couldn’t agree more.

So, the lawn will not mow itself no matter how much I concentrate on wanting it to. I cannot delay it as the heat will surely kill me later and I've got to see the doctors anyway.
I must be kept medicated and safe.
though without the meds I would gladly start drinking and smoking again.

  1. Sometimes that is just how I feel, so I know what you are talking about. After being an alcoholic, I'm now on meds for the rest of my life.
I can't take anything with citrus in, especially grapefruit, because it interferes with the statins that I take.
I wonder if it's all worth it at times, but my health is important to me....but, oh, for a cigarette!

  2. This reminds of that old, cliche saying, "Those were the days, my friend".
I'm happy you have curtailed the two, need you healthy...
Nice post here..(did the lawn get cut before sunstroke set in?)

  3. I never thought I'd read a good poem about smoking until I read this. Thanks for the share.

  4. Sometimes not drinking is hard for me but I drank too much and spent a fortune on cigarettes - choices had to be made. The reason for not drinking changes a lot and lately it's all about the meds.
These are the days - I was too reckless then.
Thank you Connor, I agree. I have thought of writing a highly descriptive account of taking a drag - ie what happens in the body, in order, as you inhale; the disgusting part nobody thinks about. I don't write it as I know it will probably suck (terrible pun intended).

  5. I'm very happy that I no longer smoke cigarettes, but sometimes I catch just a whiff of the smoke from someone else, and I have to admit that it smells pretty damn good.

Geez, that was a long sentence
